Dr. Hatem El-Gamal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Egimed Health Care Company, said that the health care sector in Egypt needs to speedily issue a law on supervision and control of health care companies, to define the standards of work for each party in the medical insurance system.

He said that it is necessary to leave the freedom to the customer to choose between insurance companies and health care companies (HMO), while setting up work mechanisms for the latter and controls that must be met, such as specifying a capital of no less than five million pounds, forming technical allocations and reserves, in addition to the necessity of adopting its medical programs and products through Actuarial expert accredited by the Financial Supervisory Authority, refusing to limit medical insurance underwriting to insurance companies only.
